Abstract

This single-group clinical trial evaluated the effects of the Arctic Goddess Proprietary Blend supplement on symptoms of menopause and overall health and well-being over 12 weeks. Thirty-five participants aged 40 - 65 took one capsule twice daily, one capsule in the morning with the first meal of the day and one capsule in the evening with the last meal of the day. Participants completed questionnaires at Baseline, Week 4, Week 8, and Week 12. By Week 12, 10 categories in the 11-item menopause symptom questionnaire had significantly improved, including participants experiencing hot flashes, anxiety, depressive moods, irritability, physical and mental exhaustion, vaginal dryness, muscular discomfort, and sleep, sexual, and bladder problems less often. Participant perception data revealed strong satisfaction, with 19 product-related statements receiving ≥50% agreement by Week 12, including improvements in hot flashes, night sweats, mood, skin and hair health, ability to cope with stress, and overall happiness, health, well-being, and quality of life. These results suggest that the Arctic Goddess Proprietary Blend supplement is effective in improving multiple symptoms of menopause and overall health and well-being. Further large-scale, controlled studies are recommended to validate and expand on these outcomes.

1. Introduction

Menopause is a natural part of aging and is defined as the permanent end of menstrual cycles due to the cessation of the production of reproductive hormones from the ovaries for at least 12 consecutive months. Menopause typically occurs in women aged between 45 and 56, and is associated with many symptoms including hot flashes, weight gain, low libido, mental fog, vaginal dryness and poor sleep. These symptoms can significantly impact a woman's overall health, well-being, and quality of life. In the United States, over one million women become menopausal each year, with symptoms that can last over a decade or more. These symptoms can be emotionally and physically challenging, affecting day-to-day functioning and work productivity.

With this in mind, Arctic Goddess developed its Arctic Goddess Proprietary Blend supplement designed to improve symptoms of menopause and overall health and well-being. The product contains a selection of ingredients that have been shown to improve overall health and well-being.

The test product contains nutrient-dense ingredients such as reindeer liver, a source of essential nutrients, including vitamin A, protein, and iron. In addition to this, the product contains Rhodiola Powder (Rhodiola rosea L.), which studies have shown can be effective for relieving mental and physical fatigue, depression, and stress.

Specific to women's health, preclinical studies have indicated that flavonoids like isorhamnetin and quercetin in sea buckthorn can support ovarian health and estrogen release. Similarly, nettle leaf (Urtica dioica) has been demonstrated to decrease menopausal hot flashes and increase quality of life compared to placebo.

This study aimed to evaluate whether the Arctic Goddess Proprietary Blend supplement improved hot flashes, mood, hormonal balance, healthy weight management, body confidence, quality of life, sleep management, libido, digestive health, skin health, hair health, and overall health and well-being over the 12-week study duration.

2. Methods

2.1. Participants

A total of 35 female participants aged 40 - 65 were recruited for this study. All participants reported concerns with at least four of the following symptoms of menopause over the past four weeks: night sweats, sleep disturbances, mood changes, fatigue and lack of energy, changes in sexual function, urinary changes, or vaginal changes, and satisfied the inclusion and exclusion criteria outlined in the study protocol.

2.2. Study Design and Intervention Procedure

This was a virtual single-group clinical trial that lasted for 12 weeks. Consent forms describing the study process, instructions, evaluation methods, and bill of rights were provided to participants before study onboarding. Following the consent process, participants completed the Baseline questionnaire. Participants were asked to take one capsule of the test product twice daily, ensuring consistency in the time they took their capsules, taking one capsule in the morning with the first meal of the day and one capsule in the evening with the last meal of the day. Further questionnaires were completed at the end of Week 4, Week 8, and Week 12.

2.3. Data Analysis and Statistics

Data from the 11-item menopause symptom questionnaire were collected using a textual 5-point Likert scale (Never-Always scale) for each question. The textual Likert data was transformed into numerical values of 0-4, where 0 (Never) represented the best outcome and 4 (Always) represented the worst outcome.

Data were checked for normality using the Pearson test, depending on the number of values being analyzed. Data were analyzed using a two-way ANOVA test with Dunnett's multiple comparisons test. Statistical analyses were performed in GraphPad Prism 10.5, and the significance level was set at 0.05. For product-specific questions not evaluated at Baseline, results were presented as the percentage of subjects reporting each answer.

Included in the questionnaires was a quality check question to assess participant engagement. Participants who did not answer "Agree" or "Strongly Agree" to the question were excluded from all questionnaire analyses at that time point. One participant was excluded from the Week 4 questionnaire analyses, and one participant was excluded from the Week 8 questionnaire analyses.

3. Results

3.1. Impact of the Test Product on Symptoms of Menopause

The effect of the Arctic Goddess Proprietary Blend supplement on the 11-item menopause symptom questionnaire (Never-Always scale) was evaluated at Baseline, Week 4, Week 8, and Week 12.

Participants reported experiencing hot flashes, sleep problems, depressive moods, irritability, anxiety, physical and mental exhaustion, sexual problems, bladder problems, and vaginal dryness significantly less often from Baseline to Week 4 on a 5-point scale from Never to Always (Table 1, Figure 1). The most notable improvement was a 44.58% decrease in frequency participants experienced anxiety from Baseline (Table 1, Figure 1).

Participants reported experiencing hot flashes, sleep problems, depressive moods, irritability, anxiety, physical and mental exhaustion, sexual problems, bladder problems, vaginal dryness, and muscular discomfort significantly less often from Baseline to Week 8 on a 5-point scale from Never to Always (Table 1, Figure 1). Frequency participants experienced anxiety continued to be the most notable improvement, with a 52.21% decrease from Baseline (Table 1, Figure 1).

Participants reported experiencing hot flashes, sleep problems, depressive moods, irritability, anxiety, physical and mental exhaustion, sexual problems, bladder problems, vaginal dryness, and muscular discomfort significantly less often from Baseline to Week 12 on a 5-point scale from Never to Always (Table 1, Figure 1). Notable improvements included a 44.98% decrease in frequency participants experienced sexual problems, a 46.69% decrease in frequency participants experienced bladder problems, and a 37.07% decrease in frequency participants experienced hot flashes from Baseline (Table 1, Figure 1).

4. Discussion

This study evaluated the efficacy of the Arctic Goddess Proprietary Blend supplement in improving symptoms of menopause and overall health and well-being over 12 weeks, using a combination of participant-reported outcomes and standardized symptoms of menopause parameter assessments.

Findings from the 11-item menopause symptom questionnaire demonstrated steady and significant improvements across a broad range of measures. Improvements were observed as early as Week 4, with the most notable early effect being participants experiencing anxiety less often. By Week 12, 10 categories in the 11-item menopause symptom questionnaire had significantly improved, including participants experiencing hot flashes, anxiety, depressive moods, irritability, physical and mental exhaustion, vaginal dryness, muscular discomfort, and sleep, sexual, and bladder problems less often. These outcomes suggest that the Arctic Goddess Proprietary Blend supplement offers a progressive, cumulative benefit for multiple categories of menopause symptoms.

Participant perception data aligned closely with these findings, with early improvements in hot flashes, night sweats, mood, bowel movement regularity, brain fog, and overall well-being reported by Week 4. By Week 12, most participants agreed that their hot flashes, night sweats, mood, sleep quality, immune system function, skin and hair health, bowel movement regularity, ability to cope with stress, and overall happiness, health, well-being, and quality of life had improved. These self-reported outcomes highlight the visible changes and the experiential benefits users perceived throughout the trial.

Overall, the results support the potential of the Arctic Goddess Proprietary Blend supplement as an effective solution for improving multiple symptoms of menopause as well as overall health and well-being. The product was well-tolerated and showed both subjective and objective benefits.

5. Conclusion

The findings of this study highlight the efficacy of the Arctic Goddess Proprietary Blend supplement in improving symptoms of menopause and overall health and well-being over 12 weeks. Significant improvements were seen in key areas such as participants experiencing hot flashes, anxiety, depressive moods, irritability, physical and mental exhaustion, vaginal dryness, muscular discomfort, and sleep, sexual, and bladder problems less often. Participant feedback reflected strong satisfaction with the product, including perceived improvements in hot flashes, night sweats, mood, hair health, and overall happiness, health, and well-being, as well as 77.78% of participants agreeing they would like to continue using the product. These results suggest that the Arctic Goddess Proprietary Blend supplement is an effective, well-tolerated supplement for individuals seeking to improve symptoms of menopause and their overall health and well-being. Further research with a larger population could help validate and expand upon these promising findings.
